Tags are instructions or control codes to an Internet browser that formats texts displayed in a website. In other words, it tells the Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, NetScape, etc) how to present texts, graphics, and links to the Internet users. Some tags are simple while some are complex, as we will see very soon. Tags are not case sensitive. Thus, as an example, <title>, <Title>, <TITLE> are the same. However, uppercase (capital letter) makes the tags to stand out better from their surrounding texts. This is useful, especially when checking through a HTML document to find out why the formatting did not work properly.
All tags are enclosed in angular brackets <>. Most tags come in pairs; one to mark the start of the formatting style, and the other to mark the end. The tags in each pair are identical, except that the closing tag starts with a forward slash (/). For example, we can write:
<H1> This is an Internet text book. </H1>
or for easier reading, we may put the tags on separate lines, thus:
<H1>
This is an Internet text book.
</H1>
Every HTML document (i.e. website document), as a tradition, starts with the tag <HTML> and ends with the corresponding tag </HTML>. So, in its simplest form, a HTML document might appear thus:
<HTML>
body of the document or website
</HTML>
This means that all other tags that will be included in the body of the document must appear between <HTML> and </HTML>.
In general, a HTML document can be divided into two parts, namely: the head part and the body part. The head part is enclosed by <HEAD> and </HEAD> and it contains the title and any other annotations. The head part is not displayed, except the title which appears on the title bar (the top of the Internet browser where the website name suppose to appear if there is no title). The body part is enclosed by <BODY> and </BODY> and it contains the texts that will appear on the website pages. The body part contains other tags for formatting texts in the website pages. Consider the following HTML document:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE> Internet Lecture Conference. </TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<P>
All students are welcome to this maiden Internet Lecture.
</P>
</BODY>
</HTML>
In the above HTML document, “Internet Lecture Conference” is the title and it constitutes the head part; “All students are welcome to this maiden Internet Lecture.” is the website page text and it constitutes the body part. The tag <P> is used to start a paragraph and </P> terminates the paragraph.
Note: The tags <HTML>, <HEAD>, and <BODY> with their corresponding closing tags </HTML>, </HEAD>, and </BODY> can be omitted. They are normally included just as a tradition or convention, or just to complete a given standard.
The main text-formatting tags will be treated in our subsequent topics. Keep checking for updates in this site.

The Latin Rite is one of the 23 sui iuris particular Churches within the Catholic Church. This particular Church developed in western Europe and north Africa, where, from antiquity to the Renaissance, Latin was the language of education and culture, and so also of the liturgy.
The term "Latin Rite" was once clearly synonymous with "Western Church", a term that some continue to use exclusively of the Church in communion with the see of Rome. In this sense, "Western Church" is opposed to the "Eastern Catholic Churches" (plural), whose liturgies use the languages dominant in their areas at the time of their formation, or modern languages such as Arabic. However, except in the context of the Catholic Church, "Western Church" is most frequently understood as synonymous with "Western Christianity" and as opposed instead to "Eastern Christianity", making it necessary in such contexts to use the more specific term "Western Catholic Church". "Latin Church" is yet another term used for the particular Church in question. This term appears, for instance, in the opening canon of both the 1917 and the 1983 editions of the Code of Canon Law.
The Latin Church or Rite is now present in all continents and is the majority Rite or particular Church within the Catholic Church, comprising roughly 98% of its membership.
The term "Latin rite" is used also, in singular or plural ("a Latin rite" or "(the) Latin rites"), to refer to one or more of the forms of sacred liturgy used in different parts of this Latin Church

Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. The term can be used as a noun (a medium with multiple content forms) or as an adjective describing a medium as having multiple content forms. The term is used in contrast to media which use only rudimentary computer display such as text-only, or traditional forms of printed or hand-produced material. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms.Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance. Multimedia (as an adjective) also describes electronic media devices used to store and experience multimedia content. Multimedia is distinguished from mixed media in fine art; by including audio, for example, it has a broarder scope.

As early as the Chou dynasty, about the fourth century B.C., a certain Sun Tzu wrote a brief treatise called "The Art of War," which made much of knowledge for the successful conduct of war. Sun Tzu's wisdom would endure. Centuries later, his treatise was consulted by Chairman Mao and memorized in its entirety by officers of the Japanese Imperial Navy in World War II; a quote from it opens a U.S. Army field manual of the 1980s that marks the first significant change in army field tactics since the U.S. Civil War. Knowledge, says Sun Tzu, is power and permits the wise soveriegn and the benevolent general to attack without risk, conquer without bloodshed, and accomplish deeds surpassing all others.

The New York Stock Exchange recently published its own treatise which says, less poetically, the same thing: increased productivity derives from more capital, from better capital, but most important of all, from "working smarter" with the capital at hand. American business leaders are as concerned with the art of war as Sun Tzu and his legion of international disciples have been, but in this century the battlefield has changed. Instead of the mountains and valleys of ancient China, the vital battlefield has become the international marketplace.

No nation understands all this better than the Japanese. And by the beginning of the next decade, the Japanese plan to be well on their way to utilizing the amassed konowledge of human civilization as their leverage to achieve a preeminent role in world trade. Other develop nations, in particular Great Britain and France, recognize the wisdom of the Japanese plan and are undertaking strategies of their own. Each such national program, including Japan's revolves around the development of a new technology that embodies knowledge as its central feature--knowledge that will transform its holder's small advantage into a big, powerful, and eventually decisibe advantage in any competition.

The United States, which poineered the technology each of these national plans is based upon, and which has been preeminent in information technology for decades, has no such plan. A few industrialists and a handful of government officials are alert to these programs abroad and understand the consequences if the United States makes no rational plan of its own, but on the whole, Americans are remarkably indifferent to, even ignorant of, the challeges to our national predominance in everything from computing to finance, from industrial output to quality of life, that these other plans represent. We are, as usual, relying on matters to take care of themselves somehow or other. Because information technology moves so very much more quickly than other kinds of technology--halving in price and doubling in power every two years on the average--matters aren't likely just to take care of themselves in ways that Americans will be altogether happy with.

There's a fair parallel between intelligent machines and automabiles. In the world of artificial intelligence, it is, so to speak, 1890; the first automobileshave already appeared. They're hand-crafted horseless carriages, to be sure, but they're distincly autos, different from wagons, carriages, and sleighs in good ways and had.

In October 1981, when Japan first let the world at large know about its plans for the Fifth Generattion of computers, the Japanese government announced that over the next decade it planned to spend seed money of about $450 million (participating industries are expected to match, and perhaps double, that amount) and would eventually involve several hundred top scientists in this project. Their goal is to develop computers for the 1990s and beyond--intelligent computers that will be able to converse with to converse with humans in natural language and understand speech and pictures. These will be computersthat can learn, associate, make inferences, make decisions, and otherwise behave in ways we have always considered the exclusive province of human reason.

About six months later, on April 14, 1982, an institute to guide the ten-year research and development program, called the Institute for New Generation Computer Technology (ICOT), was formally launched, its initial funding and new laboratories in Tokyo provided by the Japanese government. The first working papers to explore how such machines might be designed have been published, the first scientists to work fulltime on the project have been recruited. Elaborate plans have been drawn up which will allow the Japanese to move ahead step by step, evaluating their progress as they go, building on each success, and adjusting and revising for failure.
The Fifth Generation will be more than a technological breakthrough. The Japanese expect these machines to change their lives--and everyone else's. Intelligent machines are not only to make Japan's soviety a better, richer one by the 1990s, but they're explicitly planned to be influential in other areas, such as managing energy or helping deal with the problems of an aging society. Perhaps less grandiosely but equally important, the new machines will "serve as an active prime mover in all industrial fields by helping to increase the efficiency in those areas where increasing productivity has proven difficult," such as the primary industries (for example, agriculture and fishing) and the tertiary industries (for example, services, design, and general management).
But these are only the areas we can already see. There's a universe of possibilities essentially unknown to us that this research will open up.

The Japanese have been sending scientific emissaries to the West for years to study the pioneering aftificial intelligence research in the United States, Great Britain, and Europe. The Japanese have grasped the great scientific themes that run through artificial intelligence, and they feel ready to gather up a loosely knit group of ad hoc projects and to consolidate and develop them into what can only be called a momentous national projcet. Its success--even partial--will vault them into a position of distant leadership in conducting the world's information business.
Their Fifth Generation plans say unequivocally that the Japanese are the first nation to act consciously upon the realization that the new wealth of nations can be viewed as something besides financial capital, secured from manufactures goods or land rental, as it was in Adam Smith's time. In this they have acted on a truth that has been emerging and reiterated for nearly two decades. The world is entering a new period. The wealth of nations, which depended upon land, labor, and capital during its agricultural and industrial phases--depended upon natural resources. the accumulation of money, and even upon weaponry--will come in the future to depend upon information, knowledge, and intelligence.
OKAFOR CHINYERE MATTEW
ReplyDelete2010/HND/10762/CS
The first and most obvious reason for this is the increase in productivity such machines will bring about. They are designed specifically to increase the productivity of knowledge worker--and here we mean professionals as surely as billing c lerks--by orders of magnitude over what they can accomplish now. Knowledge workers, as we shall see, constitute the majority in the work force of developed nations, and their ranks will increase. Thus a significant improvement in their productivity will have profound economic effects.
The manufactured goods that Japan will sell will be so much better than the competition's, thanks to the degree of knowledge that will be brought to bear on their design and manufacture, that the Japanese expect to dominate markets in conventional products, too. But perhaps equally important to all the economic advantages the Fifth Generation promises is that intangible thing called quality of life. A society where knowledge is quickly and easily available to anybody who wants it will, we think, be an alluring place.

Program Limits
We do not even need the full capabilities of a computer language to express any algorithm in a program. This idea had its origin in the Structure Theorem first presented in a classic mathematical paper by C. Bohm and G. Jacopini with the ominous title Flow Diagrams, Turing Machines, and Languages with Only Two Formation Rules. This paper introduced not a new computer language, but a style of programming called "structured programming" or, more technically, "programming by stepwise refinement," that could be used with any program.
To put it simply, Bohm and Jacopini discovered that all computer languages, large and small, come equipped with the following basic features:
1) Sequences of two or more operations (add A to B, then divide it by C, then print the result).
2) Decisions or choices (IF A THEN B ELSE C).
3) Repetitions of an operation until a certain condition is true. One of these is the Do-While loop (keep adding 1 to X While X is less than 10). The other is the Do-Until loop (keep adding 1 to X Until X equals 10).
The Structure Theorem mathematically proves that the expression of any algorithm in any language (i.e., any possible program, including one simulating human intelligence) can be written using only combinations of the three basic programming rules mentioned above!
At first glance, it looks as if tremendous restrictions are placed on the programmer, and yet by employing this "structured programming" method one actually shortens the time it takes to write, "debug" or modify any given program. This is because structured programming forces us to break a single complicated problem into several simple subproblems, then breaking these in turn into several more simple subsubproblems, until the programmer has reduced the original, highly complex problem into a large number of interlocking, very simple problems that are easily coded as a program. This technique is known as reductionism, decomposition or top-down design.

he nation seems to be at a very bad point now that prominent citizens and elders who had been quiet about the scary security situation are now talking. It was a harvest of lamentations and condemnations for the bad turn things have taken in the country especially in security. The venue of the discourse is the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
At the 50th birthday celebration of the Publisher of the Leadership newspaper, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah yesterday, sounds of despondence, hopelessness and failed expectations rang loud as the former Defence Minister, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, declared openly that the nation had become another Somalia.
He said: “The Somalianization of Nigeria nation is taking place right now. And for those of us from the North, I say it here that the North is on fire. Let us tell ourselves the truth and stop deceiving ourselves, the Chief Security Officer of every state is the governor, but I ask all of us here, where are the governors of the northern states that the region keeps burning and nothing seems to be done. The North has failed just like the entire nation.
“Borno State as an instance has failed completely. Jigawa State has failed also and worst of all, Kano of all places is about to fail. So, where exactly are we going? We hear and see multi-million naira fences erected around Government Houses, but what about the citizens? Where is their security”, he asked.
In his speech, former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, General Jeremiah Useni, also wondered what the government is doing about the high rate of insecurity and asked why Boko Haram targets and attacks the common and vulnerable citizens and spare those that should rightly be their target.

ARSENAL football club as officially announce the signing of Koln striker Lukas Podolski who will join ARSENAL in the summer for an undisclosed fee, the German club has announced.
In an official statement on the club’s website confirming the deal, executive board chairman, Claus Horstmann admitted that Koln had offered the player new “competitive” terms on his contract, but with just one year left on his current deal, a transfer was best for the team.
“We deeply regret his step, which is not a decision against FC but for the good of his own career. 1. FC Cologne were prepared to extend Lukas Podolski's contract on the basis of a competitive offer," Horstmann said.
He added, “Nonetheless, this early transfer decision offers scope and planning security for the next season. We will jump at this opportunity to reinvest these transfer earnings back into our team's quality and into the promotion of our youth squads."
“Lukas has helped the club in many difficult situations; Lukas has left a mark on 1. FC Cologne's reputation and we feel the need to thank him for numerous great football experiences at Cologne.”
The striker has been linked heavily with the Gunners in recent months, with manager Arsene Wenger publicly stating his admiration for the former Bayern Munich player in March.
And the 26-year-old has thanked the Koln fans before his summer switch to the Emirates Stadium: “The move to ARSENAL provides a great opportunity for me to gain experience in international competitions at a European top club.
“I have made this decision not against FC Cologne but for this great opportunity and the good of my own individual development.
“This was not an easy decision for me at all, as 1. FC Cologne, our fans and the city are something special for me.

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced a new minimum wage of N21,000, surpassing the N18,900 paid by the Federal Government. Governor Godswill Akpabio who announced this on Tuesday during the May Day celebration in Uyo, however, said the state decided to pay that high, not necessarily because of the strike the workers embarked on for three weeks in January this year, but for his resolve to make the workers happy and more productive.
The new salary regime which was signed on Monday at the State Banquet Hall between organized labour and the governor and called Consolidated Akwa Ibom State Enhanced Salary Structure and would not only take care of upward review of salaries, but also of promotion of directors to the level G17 even when they are not officially designated Permanent Secretaries.
Akpabio said his administration would continue to honour workers since he belong to labour not by employment but by birth and the fact that his mother instilled the dignity of labour in him right from childhood.
He described this year’s May Day celebration as eventful because it is the year that the state would celebrate its silver jubilee anniversary. He challenged labour to take stock of its activities in the last 25 years to decide whether they had keyed into the dreams and aspirations of the founding fathers of the state.
He said this year’s May Day theme which has to do with employment, food, education and security had already been captured by his administration’s free and compulsory education, employment of thousands of youths into civil service and granting of agric loans to youths and women to the tune of N500,000 each.
The state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Unyime Usoro, while appreciating the state government for its magnanimity in forgiving labour’s action of going on strike and still approving the new minimum wage, however said, this year’s theme: Right to Employment, Food and Education: Panacea to Insecurity captures the concern of the Nigerian workers.

A suspected evil pastor who allegedly doubled as the ring leader of a deadly gang of armed robbers has been nabbed. Pastor and General Overseer of a ministry in Eket, Akwa-Ibom, one pastor Eze was arrested by the operatives of Ondo State Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) who trailed him to Eket, Akwa-Ibom after being exposed by members of his gang.
The deadly four-man gang that specialized in snatching of high profile cars and Sports Utility Vehicles(SUV) according to police sources had been terrorizing residents of Akure, Ondo State capital, and Ilesha in Osun State before they met their waterloo. The 41-year old pastor popularly known as Chairman was said to be the sole receiver of the cars snatched from innocent people and disposed them off in Akwa-Ibom.
It was gathered that whenever Pastor Eze and his gang went for operation he would stay in an hotel while the four gang members would be carrying out their nefarious activities of snatching cars on the road . When the car has been snatched it would be taken to the Pastor in the hotel. The Pastor would drive the stolen car to Akwa Ibom where it would be sold . One of such stolen vehicle was said to have been sold for N2.5million
On March 6, 2012, Pastor Eze and his gang stormed Akure. He lodged in an hotel as usual and his gang members double-crossed a woman, one Mrs Olubunmi who was driving an SUV along FUTA Road and snatched her car. The car was taken away and when information got to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), it swung into action and got one of the gang members arrested in Akure .
Speaking with our reporter, Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, Mr Edgar Nanakumu said the command has been facing a serious problem of combating car snatchers within the state. “We have received several complaints of car snatching and immediately the information came to us about this latest one. I quickly mobilized men of SARS and they swung into action and arrested one of the gang members and he confessed that one Pastor Eze who was their gang leader always sold the snatched cars at Akwa Ibom State.”

In an affidavit to be filed in a South African court any moment from now, detained Mr. Henry Okah claims that first few days in April 2010, after Dr. Goodluck Jonathan became Acting President, one Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke phoned him over 20 times for help to become petroleum minister.
Okah claimed that in her calls, Diezani explained that she “was competing for the post of the Minister of Petroleum with the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr, Odein Ajumogobia,” and asked for assistance “to tip the scale in her favour.” But, the Presidency denied Okah’s claims.
In the 42-page affidavit, Mr. Okah claims Diezani specifically asked him to speak to President Jonathan and “put a good word for her,” furnishing him with up-to-date information on the president’s availability via calls and text messages.
Mr. Okah then spoke to President Jonathan in the early hours of April 5, 2010, he says in the affidavit, following which Diezani later called to thank him for his contribution in influencing her appointment as Minister for Petroleum Resources. Okah says in the affidavit that he reluctantly accepted to speak to Diezani at the prompting of then presidential adviser, Mr. Oronto Douglas, who, he said, called him on April 4, 2010, saying that Diezani was desperate to speak to him. Mr. Douglas underlined her need of Okah’s assistance in persuading President Jonathan to appoint her Minister of Petroleum.

Mary Azeh Chinedu, the Delta-born female automobile engineer, is one young woman you will like listening to because of her views about life and challenges thereof. The 24-year-old believes that every woman should acquire skills that will enable her scale the economic and social hurdles of our times. She learnt automobile injection engineering, which she said has opened a new vista of opportunity to a women of her background.
Mary shares the view that women are special and distinctively created to execute unique duties and not to become copy-cats, who embrace all manner of professions like hair dressing or dress-making, just to earn a living. She told Daily Sun in a recent interview that she detests simple task, but prefers to engage in tough assignments that society often attributes to men, to the amazement of her admirers, concluding that only women of style can make a difference in nation like Nigeria.
Excerpts:
Why I learnt auto injection engineering
I see what I am doing as a different job from what others are doing. This is because as a person I don’t like simple tasks and that is why I have always gone for tough tasks.
While it is common for most ladies to go for simple vocations like hairdressing, dress making and a whole lot of activities that portray them as weaker sex, I have always fancied doing what will distinguish me from others an that is the reason a decided to learn maintenance and servicing of automobile injectors.
I have been doing this for the past three years and I can proudly say I have no regrets going into the profession.
It’s a man’s job
I don’t believe it’s a man’s job even though some Nigerians are in the habit of believing that it is only men that can do tough tasks like automobile engineering. Irrespective of our physiological differences, I am one of women who believe that God created all us with special endowments and abilities but a lot would depend on how you are able to develop talents in you. I decided to learn automobile to prove the point that your sex does not confer limitations on you if you realize who you are.

From Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, president, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), came a final warning yesterday to the Federal Government: the killings of his members by Boko Haram must stop now. He was reacting to last Sunday’s killings of 15 parishioners, including two professors, at Bayero University, Kano (BUK) worship centres. Scores were injured in the bombing and gunning down of the victims.
Pastor Oritsejafor’s warning followed the alarm raised by Archbishop, Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri, Borno State, Most Rev. Oliver Doeme, lamenting that the sect had killed over 70 parishioners. He said the Catholic faithful had become endangered species. The CAN president urged the Federal Government to stop the spate of attacks on churches in the North.
Issuing the final warning while addressing a Press conference yesterday at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, Oritsejafor stressed that the association will not be able to guarantee a peaceful response from Christians should there be another attack on churches. According to him, millions of Christians in the states affected by Boko Haram have become agitated and aggrieved, thereby making it difficult for CAN to guarantee any form of co-operation from its members should there be a fresh attack on churches.
He said: “As president of the Christian Association Nigeria, my first call to all peace-loving Nigerians is to remain calm in the face of all the insecurity challenges as I am aware that greater part of the overall design is to instill fear in the populace.
“I will now make a final call- I repeat a final call, to the Nigerian government to clearly refine and neutralize the problem as other nations have done. The church leadership has hitherto put great restraint on aggrieved millions of Nigerians, but can no longer guarantee such co-operation if the trend of terror is not halted immediately”

Introduction
From Management's point of view, "What a product should
have costed" is more important than."What it did cost".
Managers are constantly comparing their product cost with
"What it should have costed". Reasons for deviations are
rigorously analyzed and responsibilities are promptly fixed.
Thus, "what a product should have costed" is a question of
great concern to management for improvement of cost
performance. A scientific answer to this problem, i.e., an answer
based on reasons and consequences, is developed by use of
standard costing. Standard Costing is a managerial device, to
determine efficiency and effectiveness of cost performance. First
of all, we briefly discuss different terms to be used in this
lesson.
Standard. It' is a predetermined measurable quantity set in
defined conditions.
Standard cost:- Standard cost is a scientifically predetermined
cost, which is arrived at assuming a particular level of efficiency
in utilization of material, labour, and indirect services. CIMA
defines standard cost as "a standard expressed in money. It is
built up from an assessment of the value of cost elements. Its
main uses are providing bases for performance measurement,
control by exception reporting, valuing stock and establishing
selling prices."
Standard cost is like a model, which provides basis of comparison
for actual cost. This comparison of actual cost with
standard cost reveals very useful information for cost vontrol.
Standard cost has also been referred to as cost plan for a single
unit. Cost plan will give element-wise outline of what the
product cost should be according to management's thinking.
This thinking is not merely an estimate or guess work. It is
based on certain assumed conditions of efficiency, economic
and other factors. Standard cost is primarily used for following:-
• Establishing budgets
• Controlling costs and motivating and measuring efficiencies.
• Promoting possible cost reduction.

Los Blancos hold a seven-point lead over second-placed Barcelona with only two more league games to be played.
Madrid last won the Liga title in 2007-08 when the club finished eight points clear of Villarreal, but Pep Guardiola's Barca then claimed the following three championships.
With Cristiano Ronaldo as the undisputed star, the Santiago Bernabeu side has dominated the Primera for much of the campaign, and opened up a 10-point lead several weeks ago.
A difficult period featuring draws against Malaga, Villarreal and Valencia helped the Catalans back in the title hunt as they closed the gap to just four points at the top.
Any hope Barca had of a miraculous comeback, though, was ended in the Clasico at Camp Nou on April 21, as Madrid won 2-1 to effectively end the title race. This was confirmed tonight in Bilbao.
Los Blancos take on Granada and Mallorca in their remaining two Liga games.

Dani Alves has insisted that he is keen to stay at Barcelona for several more years.
The Brazil international was recently linked with a transfer to Anzhi Makhachkala, but the right back has made it clear that he has no interest in leaving Camp Nou before his term is up.
"If I did not want to stay, I would not have renewed my contract [until 2015]. My idea is to stay until the end of my contract. But the club ultimately decides," Alves said to reporters.
The 28-year-old then went on to thank fans for the affection they have shown Barcelona and coach Pep Guardiola throughout the season, and is keen to repay them for their support.
"I'm pleased because the supporters give Guardiola the recognition that he deserves. The team want to return all the love that the fans have given us."
Barcelona, which surrendered its league title on Wednesday to Real Madrid, resumes La Liga action on Saturday when it hosts Espanyol.

ADVANCED MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING

Action relating to a particular period both standard costing and budgetary control have to following common features:
1. Both have common object of improving managerial control.
2. Both techniques are based on the presumption that cost is
controllable.
3. In both the techniques results of comparison are analyzed
and reported to management.
Despite these common features these are two different techniques. The points of difference are summarized as follows:-
1. Denote Different Ideas. Standard costing denotes a unit idea. It outlines what a unit should cost. Standard cost provides a cost plan for a unit whereas budget denotes a "total idea". The statement clearly explains the difference; "Budgeted cost of material is Rs. 1,000/-, if 10,000 units are produced at a standard cost of Re.1/-each".
2. Different aims- Budget seeks to lay down a monetary limit of expenses, which should not be normally exceeded. If this limit is exceeded the actual profit will fall short of budgeted profit. Standard costing seeks to procure efficient utilization
of material, labour and indirect services

Jay DeMerit Journal: Pulling out an ugly win
ReplyDeleteIn his latest journal, the Vancouver Whitecaps defender says that his team is learning how to win ugly and talks about the great Manchester rivalry.
By: ONUOHA, DEBORAH .C.
REG. NO: 2010/HND/10767/CS
An “ugly win” is how I’ve described our 1-0 away win to the Columbus Crew a few times now. It’s a term that floats around in many sports circles. I would say that for any team sport, being able to win ugly is probably one of the best qualities a group can have.
Hopefully it’s not something you need to rely on week in and week out, but you need it on those certain nights when the game doesn’t flow, with the ball just going back and fourth from team to team without any real rhythm. Neither side is able to create the passes they need and nothing ever seems to stay in play.

Yeah, those games.
You just have to stay focused and battle it out for 90 minutes. You try, try and try again. Then you try again. If that doesn’t work out, well, you know what you have to do!
Those are the games that are not always fun to play, but good teams will find a way to stick at it and grind out an ugly win more often than not. That’s why it’s usually the same teams rising to the top each year in leagues around the world. Manchester United always seem to be able to get those three points points that are needed to stay at the top on a cold, windy and rainy day in Stoke because that's a great team that knows how to win ugly.
Don't get me wrong - I’m not saying the Whitecaps are Manchester United all of a sudden! But, in our away trips to LA, Chivas USA and Columbus, we have started to show signs that we can win ugly. And that is promising for our group.
On the subject of Manchester United, it was amazing to learn that the derby game against City this week had over 650 million viewers worldwide – a staggering number, especially when you consider that ‘only’ 175 million tuned in to watch this year’s Superbowl. That a big portion of that number was made up of viewers from North America shows again that our sport continues to move in the right direction.

For me, the English Premier League is most entertaining league in the world. No matter what, it always seems to come down to the last few games for the title. And, by ‘winning ugly’ against its neighbors, City has made the run-in to the end of the season that much more entertaining for all of us neutral fans who don’t support either team.
Report: Ferdinand willing to play alongside Terry for England at Euro 2012
ReplyDeleteDespite the Chelsea captain's upcoming trial for racially abusing his brother, Anton, the Manchester United man will put differences aside if required by new boss Roy Hodgson
By: OGBONNAYA, IJEOMA NANCY

The Manchester United man has reportedly not spoken to Terry since the Chelsea defender was accused of racially abusing his brother, Anton, back in October and doubts had been raised as to whether the two could play together with the trial still unfinished.
Ferdinand has not played for England since June 2011, however, after a solid season at the heart of Manchester United’s defense Roy Hodgson is reportedly looking to include the center back in his squad for the European Championship.
Hodgson refused to be drawn on the matter in his first press conference as Three Lions boss saying: "I’ll have to get in touch with John and Rio to speak with them, hopefully face to face, and find out where they are in this situation.
“Until such time as I’ve actually spoken to them and found out where they stand in relation to the current situation, it would be wrong of me to comment.”
Terry has continued playing for England, despite being stripped of the national captaincy, for a second time, striking up a partnership with Gary Cahill that has translated to club football after the latter's arrival from Bolton.

THE CHALLENGES OF FEMALE SECRETARY IN AN ORGANIZATION
As the present trend sees a diversified workforce and more women employees at the workplace, managers are being forced to deal with the difference that exist among their workers. This research paper examines whether there is any issue for discrimination towards the female secretary and the challenges they face at the workplace. An overview of the workplace is presented along with the issue of both generational and gender differences and the reflection of those differences within society. The most fundamental issue facing female secretary is the struggle against gender inequality in both wages and promotional opportunities. We have seen advancement with the passing of protective legislature, for example the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which has allowed women the ability to pursue career opportunities.
